A contemporary homage to kiwi farm sheds, West House features bold angular lines, low-maintenance materials, and a design that prioritizes sun, privacy, and safety, achieving a 5-Star certification under Lifemark’s standards.
Fondly nicknamed ‘the hanger’ by some of the locals, this bold home drew inspiration from the surrounding pastoral landscape. The main form pays homage to the iconic kiwi farm shed with it’s simple, strong angular lines and enduring low maintenance metal cladding having been reinterpreted in an elegant and contemporary way. Sleek black steel in wide tray format contrasts against white plaster, while the visual warmth of cedar weatherboards harmonises the overall aesthetic.
Angled for the best sun, privacy and views, the house was also designed with safety, usability and adaptability in mind and it achieved the maximum 5-Star certification under Lifemark’s design standards.
