This bathroom and powder room renovation within a Westmere bungalow was guided by a simple philosophy: preserve what gives the home its soul while thoughtfully adapting it for modern living. Respecting the property's heritage was central to every design decision. Original architectural details were carefully considered, ensuring the character and craftsmanship of the era remained present throughout the transformation. The result is a space that feels as though it has always belonged … timeless, familiar and quietly elegant. A soft, neutral palette establishes a sense of calm, allowing period-inspired materials and detailing to take centre stage. Herringbone tiling introduces texture and a subtle nod to the home's history, while organic aged brass fixtures provide warmth and depth without overpowering the space. Lighting was intentionally layered to enhance both atmosphere and functionality. Elegant wall sconces and decorative fixtures cast a gentle glow, with dimmable settings allowing the rooms to transition effortlessly from the practical demands of the morning to the slower moments of the evening. Thoughtful spatial planning and integrated storage solutions ensure the home continues to support contemporary family life while remaining true to its origins. Every intervention was approached with restraint, guided by the belief that heritage homes should be enhanced rather than reinvented.
