By Greg Natale
From its elegant blue walls with their white trim to its archways and Art Deco furnishings, this three-storey, five-bedroom house is a beautiful fusion of classic style and contemporary living.
The Edwardian-era residence underwent a major gutting and reworking, with Greg Natale meticulously recreating original details such as panelled ceilings and doors, and adding French mouldings which, although not typical of the era, make a striking feature of the walls. New archways and a relocated staircase provide graceful lines, allowing for better flow between spaces.
Offsetting the blue and white backdrop are monochromatic elements such as black-stained oak floorboards on the lower levels, and a black and white patterned stair runner and carpet upstairs. Art Deco-inspired rugs and custom furniture bring clean, contemporary lines, with blue and burgundy forming a stunning tonal pairing in the formal living room and adjacent bar area.
Panelling in the kitchen and mosaic marble tiles in the bathrooms continue a focus on finishes and intricacy of detail throughout to create a luxe modern residence with a calm, classic mood.
