Chow:Hill’s re-fit and refurbishment of an iconic Hamilton CBD building brought it into the 21st Century for its new anchor tenant.
The top floor takes cues from the 1970s with joinery and room dividers that reference that era.
Timber elements amd plush rugs were introduced to soften the hard surfaces.
The top floor can be opened right up from one side to the other for company events and large gatherings.
The kitchen space offers plenty of room for staff to congregate and opens up to the deck.
The boardroom space can be opened up or shut off.
On the floor below, a modern industrial aesthetic was embraced, with concrete forms and timber beams left exposed.
The office spaces are separated from the congregating and meeting spaces to offer the staff a private and quiet space to work.
The foyer features a timber slatted wall that wraps right from outside to the lifts.
Throughout the building, the decorative facade treatment is replicated inside; here it offers a screen to close off the cafe.
The facade treatment slots neatly with the existing steel fins on the exterior of the building.
The top floor of the original building was demolished and rebuilt within a seven month period for McCaw Lewis.
