In every well-considered interior, light is more than illumination. It is structure, atmosphere and intention. It shapes how materials read, how spaces breathe and how people feel. Sarsfield Brooke has long understood this, supplying the design community with lighting that marries European craft with architectural clarity. Their next chapter brings that commitment into sharper focus.

The newly opened Sarsfield Brooke Lighting Studio, located within the brand’s Parnell showroom, is a dedicated destination for architects, interior designers and specifiers to experience lighting at its most refined. Open Monday to Friday, the space offers both drop-in browsing and private appointment consultations, acknowledging the realities of project timelines and the value of seeing a piece in person.

The Lighting Studio presents an extensive collection of Italian-designed and crafted lighting. From minimal architectural fittings to sculptural centrepieces and enduring classics. With hundreds of pieces on display, the space reads like a study in proportion, materiality and the poetics of light.

Two recent arrivals have generated particular interest, new collections from Arte Veneziana and Vistosi, whose work represents the highest tier of Venetian glassmaking and contemporary Italian design. Their presence signals a natural evolution for Sarsfield Brooke, offering New Zealand designers access to globally recognised craftsmanship previously reserved for international markets.

Though lighting has always been a part of Sarsfield Brooke’s offering, demand for elevated, architecturally resolved options has grown. The studio emerges as a response. A place where designers can explore scale, finish and atmosphere with clarity, supported by a team who understand the nuances of specifying for residential and commercial projects.

Whether selecting a singular pendant or coordinating a full lighting package, visitors can engage with the pieces directly and feel the weight of a blown-glass fitting, the warmth of a brass detail, the shadow patterns cast by a sculptural form. These tactile moments are often what shape the final decision in a project.

The Lighting Studio is open Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm, welcoming both casual visits and private viewings for those wanting to explore the collection in a more focused way.

Its opening marks an important addition to New Zealand’s design landscape. A dedicated environment that positions light not as an accessory, but as a core architectural element to be studied, experienced and specified with intent.
