On a lively evening in Fitzroy, the design community gathered to toast one year of Tiento’s Nicholson Street showroom - a space that has quickly become a northside favourite for those with an eye for craftsmanship, materiality and considered design.

For directors Justin and Kerry Mulry, the milestone marks more than just twelve months in Fitzroy. “We wanted to create a space that went beyond the traditional showroom — somewhere to explore, collaborate and be inspired,” they share. “The response from the local architecture and design community has been incredible.””

Since opening, Tiento Fitzroy has carved out its own rhythm in Melbourne’s creative north. The space balances gallery-like restraint with tactile warmth, reflecting the brand’s passion for texture and provenance. Within its walls, tiles sourced from Italy, Spain, Morocco and Japan are presented not just as surfaces, but as stories of craft and culture.

The evening itself was a reflection of Tiento’s ethos - bustling, generous and community-minded. Designers, architects and long-time collaborators mingled over drinks, surrounded by an ever-evolving display of porcelain, stone and ceramic.

Looking ahead, Tiento is set to extend its footprint with a new showroom slated to open in early 2026 continuing its mission to bring global design sensibilities to Australian interiors.

As Justin and Kerry note, Tiento remains driven by more than tiles alone: “It’s about creating spaces of longevity - and building the relationships that bring them to life.”
