House of the year Waikato 2025 Magazine | by B Media
Step into the future of housing and discover that beautiful, modern homes can be built in just 99 days. Balancing comfort, style and curb appeal with revolutionary, sustainable building practices, this 168sqm architect-designed property is the country's first 3D-printed show home. It is an example of cutting-edge innovation, where build speed, precision, comfort and waste reduction were key to the project's success.
The three-bedroom home is a showcase of curved walls and timber accents, inside and out. It's a testament to innovation and sustainability. How was it achieved? Speedily, seamlessly and with scrupulous attention to detail.
The 42 panels, totalling around 217sqm of precision-printed concrete walls with foam insulation, were produced off-site with a print time of just 24 hours. The entire house - complete with cabinetry, internal doors and joinery, and negative-detail ceilings - achieved Code of Compliance in 20 weeks, a process that will get faster over time.
This ground-breaking project has north-facing glazing that invites the sun in, and a roof overhang and sliding doors that mitigate heat. Excess and waste were minimised with the use of the QOROX robot's precision technology, and all non-recyclable soft plastics and foams were used inside the 3D-printed seats that adorn the property.
This home offers a glimpse into the future- a more resilient home without compromising on style or comfort.
