At Powder Coating Services (PCS), we’re proud to play a key role in shaping public spaces that are inclusive, enduring, and visually striking. Our recent involvement in Te Tōpūnga Hapori i Daly Street—a vibrant pop-up park in central Lower Hutt—is a shining example of how expert powder coating enhances both function and form in community infrastructure. Led by Hutt City Council, the Daly Street initiative transformed a formerly empty urban block into a lively, multifunctional space created in direct response to community feedback. With a vision of connection, creativity, and inclusivity, the park includes areas for rest, play, urban gardening, and socialising—making it a welcoming destination for all.
Our team at PCS worked in close collaboration with our parent company, Metal Art, who fabricated the bespoke furniture and structures for the site. PCS played a critical role in delivering the project's aesthetic and functional goals through precision powder coating of all metal elements—including the bold basketball hoop, modular seating frames and planter boxes. These finishes were chosen not only for their vivid visual impact but also for their exceptional durability in an outdoor setting.

One of the most meaningful features was the suite of wheelchair-accessible community planters. These raised planters promote inclusive engagement with urban gardening, aligning with the project’s core values of accessibility and wellbeing. The powder coating on these planters was especially important—offering a smooth, safe, and weather-resistant finish for years of community use.
A bold purple powder-coated basketball hoop quickly became a visual anchor of the space, drawing attention and activity. Each element—from timber-and-metal benches to modular structures—was carefully coated to support the Council’s goals of low-waste, reusable design. The flexibility and resilience of powder-coated finishes allow the pieces to be relocated or repurposed as part of Lower Hutt’s long-term redevelopment strategy.
At PCS, we take pride in delivering finishes that go beyond surface appearance. Every coat represents our commitment to sustainability, quality, and community.
Te Tōpūnga Hapori i Daly Street is a testament to what thoughtful collaboration—between councils, designers, and local experts—can achieve.
We’re honoured to have contributed our expertise to this dynamic project and look forward to future opportunities to help shape meaningful, enduring public spaces.
