Just as interior design trends are showcasing a much richer colour palette than has been seen for decades, so too is bathroomware heading towards a bright and vibrant range of tones, with stylistic influences covering everything from the glamour of the early 20th Century to an intentional timelessness. Here’s the top trends to look out for in 2020.
This new collection, named after New York’s Soho district, is an embodiment of the glamour and sleekness of early 20th Century design. “Named after Soho, this range all wows for the same creativity and eclecticism that this once industrial neighbourhood offers today,” In Residence’s Stephan Marshall says.
The Soho bath perhaps highlights best the stylistic intentions of this collection. A reproduction of a 1930s D-shaped cast iron tub, it offers a unique and classical design. “A straight back edge enables this freestanding bath to be set against a wall in compact bathrooms, while smooth, sensual curves at each end soften the form.”
“Another luxurious bathroomware collection in the limelight at the moment is the Rockwell Collection by renowned English bathroomware designers The Water Monopoly,” Stephan says. “With a mouth-watering range of colours and bold curves, the Rockwell is in a league of its own.”
Available in New Zealand since October 2019, every shipment has been pre-sold before its arrival - a testament to the fresh design possibilities bathroomware in colour offers. Each piece in the Rockwell Collection is available in a range of unique colour options including sherbert yellow, willow green and powder blue.
“The beauty of this collection is the ability for designers to incorporate statement pieces, as well as more subtle pops of colour into the bathroom,” Stephan says. “This collection provides a wide range of colours available for items including tap handles, shower heads and bath feet, allowing for new levels of creativity. Perhaps it’s a white bath with lilac feet, or a blue shower head - the possibilities are vast.”
“The very eclectic nature of contemporary architecture in New Zealand means those pieces that can’t be described either as traditional or modern have a distinct allure. A collection that embodies this unambiguous timelessness is the Lonsdale,” Stephan says.
“The distinctive streamlined form of the Lonsdale collection offers a sophistic ated timeless appeal; the perfect foundation for an elegant and refined bathroom setting in any style of home.”
