Design Principles For Lavish, Modern New Zealand Kitchens

Despite the fact that so many of us spend heaps of time in our kitchens, it’s easy to miss what design elements make for incredible kitchen design. Each one of these principles, when carefully thought through and balanced, can make the perfect kitchen for your new build or renovation project.

So, what goes into a stunning luxury kitchen?

Practical Functionality. At the heart of every successful kitchen is a focus on functionality. After all, a kitchen is a place to create, so a practical design is a must. At CV Interiors, we’ll consider your needs when thinking about how to make your space more functional.

Before thinking about how your kitchen will look, we’ll first think about how you use your kitchen on a day-to-day basis. This will help us find a good flow for your kitchen so that you can happily go through each day without needless disruptions.

We’ll make sure that key elements of your kitchen design, such as the layout, storage solutions, work zones and any other important stations, are optimised for streamlined usability. There are a few popular kitchen layouts, and we can go over whichever ones you’re interested in to discuss the pros and cons of each for your lifestyle.

To maximise functionality, we’ll seek to incorporate practical fixtures and features that enhance your kitchen’s usability while adding a touch of luxury and improving your aesthetics. Soft-close drawers and cabinets can make your space more peaceful, and under-cabinet lighting can illuminate work areas while creating a serene atmosphere.

A Quiet Luxury Aesthetic. While, for most people, functionality is a top priority, aesthetics are a close second. Think about the colour scheme and finishes you want for your new space. We know that choosing the right colours can be an intimidating task, and you might be worried about making the wrong selection. So, we’ll discuss the colours you like and explore the colour palettes that we think you’ll love based on your preferences.

Once we have a good understanding of the aesthetic you are aiming to achieve, we’ll consider how to use your colour palette in a balanced way without overwhelming your new space with one colour or confusing it with too many.

Quality Materials For Visuals And Longevity. Along with your colour choice, the materials used in your kitchen design will also strongly contribute to how it looks and how long it lasts. We’ll help you understand the advantages and disadvantages of the materials you’re interested in, as well as the maintenance requirements they have so you know how to keep them beautiful.

Think about durable, easy-to-clean materials that can withstand the rigours of daily cooking and cleaning. As your kitchen is typically used multiple times every day, choosing long-lasting materials is a must. Porcelain, marble and quartz are popular choices for luxury kitchens because they’re gorgeous, durable and low-maintenance.

If you have any other concerns that are important to you, such as sustainability or energy-efficiency, we can look into specific materials that meet your needs.

Personalisation. Above all else, we strive to create a kitchen design that speaks to your lifestyle. We want you to be absolutely thrilled with your new kitchen. We invite you to explore your options and think about your many possibilities to uncover what you’d love for your incredible kitchen design.

This is why when discussing any of the qualities mentioned above, we’ll prioritise collaboration and communication to get a good grasp of what you love the most. We encourage you to tell us about how you use your kitchen the most so that we can optimise your design’s functionality, as well as what visual aspects you’re most interested in so we can create a space that’s visually perfect for you.
