The Brick Pit recently supplied one of Bundaberg’s leading builders, IDC Construct, with 11,300 recycled bricks for Bundaberg's new Harley-Davidson showroom. The use of recycled brick was part of the overall aesthetic that evokes the image of Harley-Davidson as an iconic heritage brand.

The architect specified brick cladding with a recycled look, and IDC chose to use real, recycled bricks salvaged from demolished Sydney houses. The results were unmatched character and authenticity, cost savings, and a significantly lower embodied carbon footprint.

Spanning over 1,000m², this premium commercial site is a one-stop shop for motorcycle enthusiasts across Queensland’s Wide Bay region. The dealership features separate, purpose-built showrooms for Harley-Davidson and Yamaha and a fully equipped workshop.

Designed by Tomas O’Malley, the space combines a striking façade, warm interiors, and impeccable finishes in the experiential showroom.

IDC Site Manager Sean Hoyland said: “Our specs called for a reclaimed brick. After finding The Brick Pit’s website, I came across a previous Harley-Davidson job they had already supplied for.

"There was no real challenge with installation. Being recycled, each brick needs to be inspected thoroughly before installing to ensure quality and no excessive damage,” Sean said.

"The Brick Pit is a very good supplier and very accommodating when it came to selecting the correct mix (very competitive price also)."

The Brick Pit’s Ohad Fleiderman says bricks are one of the few building products that can be reused with their structural properties intact, showcasing their resilience.

The National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS) excludes emissions from demolition of previous structures and assigns zero emissions to elements reused in their original state.

The Brick Pit supplies recycled bricks for small to large projects as carefully curated, customised feature blends to meet specific colour and design specifications.

You can visit The Brick Pit in Sydney's west to see beautiful old bricks arriving by the truckload daily from pre-1960s Sydney houses, ready to be reused.
