Triboard TGV is a three-layered engineered wood panel featuring a wood strand core sandwiched between MDF outer skins. This structure delivers exceptional impact resistance, dimensional stability, and screw-holding strength, making it ideal for high-traffic environments like workshops, garages, and commercial spaces.
For Tony Young and his team, the choice was clear:
- Tough and durable—designed to handle the knocks
- Finishes brilliantly with a clear coat or paint
- Builders love working with it
Installation Made Simple
One of Triboard TGV’s standout features is its tongue-and-groove V-joint system, which eliminates the need for extensive framing behind joins. This proved a game-changer for Totalspan Rotorua’s steel-framed showroom, where panels were fixed directly to horizontal steel girts using self-tapping 8g screws suitable for light gauge steel, with drill or winged points.
Girts were spaced at no more than 1.2 metres centre to centre vertically, with screws placed at approximately 180mm centres in each panel—three per panel per girt.
“The screwability is exceptional,” Tony adds. “It integrates seamlessly with other materials, and the installation process is fast and efficient.”
Natural Beauty Meets Architectural Versatility
While Triboard TGV is known for its rugged performance, it’s also gaining traction among architects and designers for its aesthetic versatility. The MDF surface offers a Grade 5+ paint finish, and when clear-coated, it reveals a warm, natural wood tone that resonates with contemporary and rustic design styles alike.
A Rotorua Showcase That Inspires
Totalspan Rotorua’s showroom isn’t just a display, it’s a statement. With the largest shed display in the Bay of Plenty, Tony Young and his team have created a space that reflects the strength, style, and innovation of their brand.
"We’ve been in business for over 8 years, and we’re proud to lead the way in customised steel buildings," says Tony. "Triboard TGV helps us deliver a premium finish that matches the quality of our structures."
Totalspan Rotorua has championed Triboard for internal lining since its inception and proudly showcased its benefits in the award-winning commercial build that earned them the prestigious Totalspan Commercial Building of the Year title in 2020 — a standout rural property in Rotorua.
Why Triboard TGV Is the Builder’s Choice:
- Durable and impact-resistant
- Easy to install with minimal framing
- Paint-ready and stainable
- Sustainable and NZ-made
- Versatile across residential and commercial projects
From sheds to showrooms, Triboard TGV is redefining what’s possible in steel-framed construction. And with Tony Young steering the ship, the future of construction is strong, smart, and built to inspire.”
