Robotic mowers have come a long way, with the latest designs delivering exceptional results for properties small and large.

There’s been rapid development in the technology of robotic mowers, with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, smartphone and smart home integration, wire-free design and impressive intelligence capabilities all introduced.

Many designs such as Husqvarna’s Robotic Automowers now have the ability to navigate complex landscapes with a high level of precision – their independent operation a drawcard for many homeowners.

“With the current speed of life, we spend so much time working, so why not have the lawns done for you so that you have one less thing to do giving you time back?” says Ashley Stilwell, Automower expert at Gatmans Mowers & More

“Husqvarna’s new Automowers are completely wireless. They now mow systematically in stripes or cross-hatch. They can also drive to different mow zones and cut at different heights and patterns in each area.”

Compared to previous models, the main benefits of these mowers are their wireless design with systematic mowing and the integration with smart home technologies.

“The technology is easy to install and adjust from your phone or iPad – your maps, cut height, schedule and patterns can all be monitored or changed,” says Ashley. “No wires need to be buried and the mowed patterns make for a beautiful finish. There is a model to suit numerous property sizes from 2,200sqm to 10,000sqm. They charge themselves when required and can mow in any condition except snow.”

Features and benefits of Husqvarna’s Robotic Automowers

  • Convenient app control: Change settings and manage and monitor your Husqvarna Automower from your smartphone with the Husqvarna Automower Connect app.
  • Smart home integration: As well as connecting with your smartphone, Husqvarna’s robotic lawn mowers are compatible with smart home technology. “They can be integrated with your smart home so you can use your Alexia or Google Home,” says Ashley. This means you can use voice commands to start, stop and pause your Automower, and ask for updates.
  • GPS-navigation: Husqvarna’s patented GPS-assisted navigation creates a map of your property, including the boundary and where guide wires are installed. The mower will then navigate itself within these parameters and adjust its mowing pattern accordingly for a beautiful cut. The GPS technology also means you can keep track of the mower’s position to minimise the risk of theft.
  • Mowing when there’s demand for it: Fitted with weather timers, Automowers maximise their mowing time during periods of strong grass growth. When the grass isn’t growing as much, it will spend less time mowing – lowering its usage and wear.

The Husqvarna Robotic Automower 430X NERA

The advanced technology of the Husqvarna Robotic Automower 430X NERA means it is ideal for complex lawns up to 3,200sqm.

Precision mowing is achieved with virtual boundaries via the included Husqvarna EPOS Plug-in Kit and Automower Connect app.

It has a slope handling of up to 50 per cent incline and the GPS-assisted navigation makes for a perfectly cut lawn every day of the year.

The Husqvarna Robotic Automower 450X

The Husqvarna Robotic Automower 450X is great for slightly larger lawns, creating the perfect cut for lawns up to 5,000sqm.

It features intelligence technology to work across complex lawns like those with multiple narrow passages, obstacles, tough terrain and slopes with an incline of up to 45 per cent.

Its ultrasonic sensors mean it can work across multiple work areas with unique settings and temporary stay-out zones – all with boundary wire-free installation.

“Automowers have been around since 1995 and the technology is only getting better and better. Stock is readily available and the software updates regularly,” says Ashley.
