In a discussion with VidaSpace's Design and Marketing Manager, Ahlia McKenzie, it was noted that specifier feedback and personal experience revealed challenges in finding individual finishes that were not only both beautiful and cohesive but also compatible in terms of technical and installation requirements.

To address this, VidaSpace introduced the EcoSystem, a solution designed to redefine interior timber design by overcoming common constraints and achieving consistency across different interior elements, finishes, and systems.

“In New Zealand, we love natural finishes, and there are many different species of timber that work for various installations, for example, cedar for external applications, hardwood oak for flooring, walnut for cabinetry, native species like matai and kauri for heritage projects, and so on," says Ahlia.

“We are spoilt for choice; however, not all timber finishes harmonise together, so we embarked on the journey to expand our offering and develop what we now know as our EcoSystem to break down the traditional constraints of achieving consistency across different interior elements, finishes and systems.”

Our unique climatical temperaments and astrological environment all influenced our team when designing the VidaColour range. From Pumice to Obsidian, the beauty of the colours is that they are striking in solitude but also complement one another seamlessly. We wanted to build a full range of colours that can be selected individually or mixed and matched,” explains Ahlia.

“In Europe, we observed trends of rich colours, deep, warm timber tones, and pops of bright, bold colours in upholstery and painted finishes. We have always drawn inspiration from Europe, and most of our supply partners are based there; however, back home in New Zealand, we have experienced more demand for muted tones and those that work together to create more calm and peaceful spaces.
