Vinhuset, Karimoku Case 12 by Norm Architects
Vinhuset is set within the grounds of Ästad Vingård, a vineyard and destination in the gentle landscape of Halland, Sweden. Following Restaurant ÄNG and Sjöparken, it continues the estate’s collaboration with Norm Architects and extends a shared language of calm forms, tactile materials and closeness to nature.
Conceived as a welcoming in-between space, Vinhuset allows guests to settle between the vineyard’s dining, spa and hospitality experiences. Rather than feeling like a passageway, it becomes a destination in its own right, using framed views, warm timber and a muted palette to create an immediate sense of ease.

Developed for Vinhuset, the N-ST04 Side Table has a gently contoured top and low, subtly angled frame. Its quiet sculptural presence captures the project’s balance of solidity, warmth and lightness.
Sharing the DNA of the N-CT04 Coffee Table, this side table explores balance through subtle variation. Slightly angled legs are joined by a low apron that runs close to the floor, creating a composed yet dynamic foundation that anchors the piece in the space.
The softly contoured tabletop carries an organic presence, allowing light to move gently across its surface and revealing the natural grain and tactile depth of the wood. Neither rigid nor overtly expressive, the form finds its strength in restraint – sculptural without becoming dominant.
A landscape carried indoors Norm Architects has shaped the arrival sequence around the landscape, drawing long views into the reception and lounge spaces. Dark-stained timber cabinetry, pale mineral surfaces, woven fibres and softly upholstered forms create contrast without disturbing the atmosphere. The effect is warm rather than austere. Light moves across textured walls, tiled floors and rounded furniture, allowing the interior to change through the day while remaining restrained. It is a distinctly Karimoku Case approach: architecture and furniture are designed together, with every object understood as part of the room.
Framed views draw the landscape inward, while warm timber, textured surfaces, and muted hues create a seamless dialogue between interior and landscape. Norm Architects
Furniture made for the setting
Nine bespoke pieces were developed by Norm Architects for Vinhuset, including dining chairs, dining tables, lounge chairs and side tables. These new designs sit alongside established pieces from the Karimoku Case collection, giving the interiors a sense of continuity rather than the feeling of a conventional furniture installation.
Among the designs now available is the N-ST04 Side Table, which shares the language of the N-CT04 Coffee Table. Its gently contoured top and low, subtly angled frame have a quiet sculptural presence that suits Vinhuset’s balance of solidity and lightness.
Vinhuset demonstrates the strength of Karimoku Case at its best: furniture developed for a real architectural setting, refined through Japanese craftsmanship, and designed to live well beyond the project that inspired it.
