The Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS/7-star) provides energy ratings for new dwellings, renovations, alterations and extensions. The goal is to create more energy efficient homes helping you to save money on your energy bills. NatHERS provides a star rating from 1 to 10 based on the home’s design, construction materials, insulation, glazing and climate zone. NatHERS does not currently cover the energy efficiency of appliances (such as air-conditioning or heating systems, solar panels, batteries, etc). The introduction of NatHERS Whole of Home in the National Construction Code will include a new approach which accounts for appliances, solar and batteries and will be become a requirement for new homes in 2023 (subject to state requirements).
We praise this whole home approach for capturing all the efforts and expense’s that go into creating a comfortable and efficiently effective home. We would love to dive into your project and assist with the design early on to achieve these targets and set realistic budgets early on in the process.
