With the help of original co-designer, Don Chadwick, we thoughtfully updated the chair based on the latest research around the science of sitting, and advancements in materials, manufacturing, and technology.

Since Aeron debuted in 1994, we at Herman Miller have learned a great deal more about how best to support people in the varied postures they adopt throughout the workday. With the new chair, we incorporated two decades worth of technological and ergonomic enhancements to improve the health-positive design and widen the range of cross-performance capabilities. Sustainable from the start. Aeron’s legacy of sustainability and innovation continues since its introduction nearly 30 years ago. It proved pioneering in both ergonomics and material innovation, without relying on the standard use of foam, fabric, or leather found in most office chairs at the time. It’s also our first product to receive the industry-leading Cradle to Cradle V3 Silver Level certification. Aeron is composed of more than 50 percent recycled material—and now, we’ve added ocean-bound plastic, diverting more than 150 metric tons of plastic from the ecosystem every year.*
