Cumaru is an exceptionally dense, hard timber with a natural resistance to fungi and insects, making it an ideal solution for bespoke commercial projects and high-exposure interior and exterior applications. JSC Cumaru, also known as Tonka, is FSC® certified timber, extremely resilient and durable, with a beautiful grain detail and finish.

Due to its strength and density with the right tools and methods, a clean, smooth finish can be achieved. Cumaru also glues, finishes, and stains well.

Scope of use

Cumaru Applications

When working with Cumaru care is needed to avoid raised grain due to the use of dull knives, particularly in younger pieces. Old-growth generally finishes well and takes stain and glue well with really pleasing results. Cumaru timber is extremely stiff, strong, and hard which lends itself well to a variety of applications:
