Abbey Lang Home

About

Abbey Lang Home is a Spatial and Interior Design business based in Auckland, New Zealand, focusing on new builds and renovations. Abbey is passionate about being involved from the early stages of the architectural design, working alongside you and the architect to focus on the details of the home and ensuring the space comes together as a whole. Built on the fundamental that a house becomes a home when it is tailor-made for you - her personal ethos is to create homes that enhance life and everyday moments; homes that are timeless, functional and beautiful, while honouring the identity of the building and the needs of the client.

Abbey, designer and founder of Abbey Lang Home, has a Bachelor of Design majoring in fashion. A love of textiles led her into a head role in sales and procurement for a New Zealand based textile and trimmings wholesaler. An eye for detail and appreciation for quality was developed after working with some of the most prestigious mills and design houses from around the world. After working in the industry for 10 years she started a family and her focus shifted to raising her 2 children. Embarking on a full renovation in 2017 on their Villa in Auckland, led Abbey into a new creative realm, which she relished in, and the love of interior design was born - as was the drive to create Abbey Lang Home.

Abbey’s home (and first full-scale project) was entered into the ADNZ (Architectural Designers NZ) awards for 2018 and won the Interior Design category for Auckland and Northland and featured in the May 2019 issue of New Zealand House & Garden magazine.

Testimonials

"We had the absolute pleasure of working with Abbey on our passion project of renovating a 100-year-old arts and crafts home. Her eye for detail and scale is impeccable and her taste is sublime. Beyond that though is Abbeys ability to relate to both the client and the trades people tasked with fulfilling her vision.
We know our builders appreciated that there was substance behind the design and Abbey could readily navigate the technical side of implementation. Her positive disposition and commitment to timeless design is fantastic. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Abbey Lang Home and would not hesitate at all to 100% endorse her."

"Abbey worked with us on the renovation of our villa. She provided us a new internal layout design that made effective use of the space we already had without having to add on to our home size.Leading up to the renovation Abbey planned the layout of each new room and her attention to all the small details was brilliant. Making all of the renovation and purchasing decisions prior to the building work commencing really saves you money and time. With our home we wanted to do it once and do it right and I know for certain that without Abbey's help we would not be living in this beautiful home today!"

"When I met Abbey we connected straight away, and she understood exactly what I was wanting to achieve with our new build. She took a lot of stress out of the building process and really understood what I wanted regarding textures, colours and style. I loved working with her and I love the home that we created!"

"Abbey played a pivotal role in my renovation journey. I talked to her more than I did my husband who was overseas in these two long years. She helped me with the floor plan, colour scheme, kitchen and bathroom designs, soft and hard furnishings, floor, carpet and lighting … you name it. She even had my dog for a day so that we could be freed up after we moved in. I was very fortunate to be able to draw from her impeccable tastes, professional knowledge, and resourcefulness. She was very easy to talk to, and always happy to help, even one year after we moved in. We love our floor plan, and enjoy the best kitchen we’re ever worked in (5 in total). She started as someone I could bounce ideas off of, and ended up a game changer. I would highly recommend Abbey’s professional service." Jocelyn Lin
