Evolution Builders is operated and run by two directors of which have 60 years combined experience in the industry. Both Brent and Craig have been problem solving and innovating new ways to build architectural homes and renovate the old villas and bungalows in Auckland over our careers, so in the unlikely event that we haven’t seen it before then we will work out the best way to do it.

Speciliased in-depth understanding

We have specialized on Villa and Bungalow refurbishments and especially contempory extensions to these beautiful old homes, we have an in-depth understanding of what it takes to pull these projects together to create a fantastic result. Further to this we also build large architecturally designed new homes for some of Auckland’s top Architects.

Project and account management

Another one of our specialties is our ability to Project manage large projects, we have built great relationships with all our sub-contractors, so the make you building experience easy you can deal with just one project manager that takes care of quality, cost and timelines of the whole project.

We have an in-house accounts manager that tracks your project all the way through so the financials for every job are always easily assess able, You’ll be kept up to date on a weekly/monthly basis so you will know exactly where your hard earned dollars are being spent.

Fantastic teams

We also have fantastic onsite teams, from apprentices that we train up to become fully qualified carpenters and also a select few then become our site managers. All our guys have been trained by Brent and Craig and follow our own Evolution developed systems checklist so we keep a consistency to our products. Our company ethos is that if we look after our guys they in return will do a fantastic job. The career path for our young guys is a big focus of what we do and it is highly rewarding to see a school leaver go on to eventually become a site manager eventually running projects. All our tradesman hold certificates in carpentry and all our Site managers are licenced building practitioners.

Through this affiliation we can also offer a range of great contracts designed to be up to date with the ever changing landscape we work in. They range from Full build fixed price contracts right through to small renovations on Cost reimbursement style contracts, All the contracts are easy to understand and can be filled out on line. Having these ready to go contracts takes all of the risk and stress out of the contractual side of your project.

Every journey starts with that first step. Give us a call and we can have an initial conversation about where you are at in the building process. We can give you some great advice to get moving or, if you have begun the journey, we can arrange a consultation.

Consultation

So you have your plans drawn up and are ready to go to building consent. The consultation begins with a quick budget and time frame analysis. We have over 30 years of building experience so we can quickly identify whether your dreams and budget are aligned. Getting it right at this point is critical to the project’s overall success. If adjustments are necessary it is best that they are made before going for council consent. Or if you haven’t got anything drawn up yet and need some advice on designers we are happy to recommend some of the fantastic architects we have worked with over the years.

Cost

Once everything is looking good with the drawings and they have been lodged for consent we can then move on to a detailed quote. Our personally developed in-house QS system has a comprehensive checklist that we will work through to produce a detailed quote, customised for your project. This will not only give you a better understanding of cost, but also a detailed timeline. During this stage we will visit your site to familiarise ourselves with the logistics of the project.

Contract

After the pricing stage is complete the next stage is to enter into a building contract. As members of the Certified Builders Association we can offer advice on the best contract for your project. All the contracts are transparent and current with the changing landscape of construction methods and regulations. We are able to run fixed quote style or cost reimbursement contracts, depending on what suits you best. Also at this stage we can offer you the 10 Year Home First Guarantee to consider. This is the best industry guarantee available on the market.

Construction

Now it’s time for action. This is the fun bit. Finally you see all your dreams becoming reality. As well as getting on with the hammer and nails stuff, our on-site system checklists are great assets to both you and our business. Project management includes overseeing our great team of sub-contractors who understand that quality and accountability are paramount to the overall success of the project.

Completion

We employ a full time, in-house, accounts manager who tracks the project through to completion so that the ongoing cost is always accessible to you. We will keep you up to date weekly so you’ll always have your finger on the pulse. Once we reach practical completion we will then complete all of the final inspections and compile all of the documentation ready for the code of compliance certificate. At this point the project is ready to hand over to you. We can also organise a professional clean before you move in.

About our new builds

Over the last 15 years Evolution has worked on projects with some of Auckland’s best Architects, building everything from large concrete, steel and glass multilevel structures right through to soft one level natural timber dwellings. From these experiences with have learnt a huge range of skills including the ability to look ahead and problem solve. With one off architecturally designed projects come a unique set of challenges, not all of which can be seen during the design phase. So with these experiences we have gained comes foresight, and the ability to continue to contribute improvements to the final product.

We also have gained an understanding of the huge amount of commitment involved to bring these projects together, both financially and emotionally. We have a strong focus on communication right from our first involvement so we can best deliver what you are looking for.

With new builds we like to get involved as early as possible as every project is unique and quite different in its challenges, we are happy to liase with Architects on construction decisions and during this period even work towards creating some pricing feedback to help with financial control.
