Being a Registered Master Builder and member of SiteSafe means looking after everyone in the Fleetwood Construction team, all the subcontractors we work with and everyone who comes on-site. We want everyone we work with, including you, to go home safely at the end of each day. That means building with integrity, never taking short-cuts, and adhering to the highest standards of health and safety.

1. The Dream

Every single house we build starts off as a dream. That moment you find your ideal section in Christchurch, or when you start thinking about what your new home could be. This is the ideal time to contact Fleetwood Construction.

We can have a look at any section you’re thinking about purchasing, and let you know if there will be any difficulties building there. If you’re dreaming of a particular feature in your new home, we can talk about how we would go about building it and give a ballpark figure of what it might cost. We’re happy just to have a no obligations chat with you, making sure you’re comfortable before going further.

2. Your Design

Maybe you’ve had a look at some of the Registered Master Builder House of the Year Award-Winning homes in our Gallery? Perhaps you already have a plan in mind? We’re happy to recommend architects if you don’t have one already or come on board to work with yours.

We’ll turn your dream into a design and have our quantity surveyor take a look so they can give you an idea of what it will cost to build. We’ll always give you a provisional quote before proceeding with the detailed drawings, so you can make sure the designs will fit within your timeframe and budget. It’s always best to make adjustments and edits at this stage of the process before investing your time and money creating detailed plans.

3. Finalise Plans

We’ll get your house finished on paper and ready to build. With the completed plans we can give you a final quote, as well as a Registered Master Builders’ Contract and Guarantee. You can either choose a fixed price or negotiated contract depending on the size and scope of your Christchurch new build or renovation project. If you have any questions, please let us know. All of our quotes are completely open-book, which means you can see exactly how much is being spent where. As your house is built and progress payments are made, you will also be able to see what is being paid for and see when each stage is completed.

4. Project Delivery

Now comes the exciting part – bringing your dream home to life from the detailed drawings. At the very beginning of the construction process, we’ll provide you with a detailed timeline and plan. You’ll know exactly what is happening on your home on any given day, as well as what’s going to happen.

Every fortnight, Sam Fleetwood or your project manager will meet with you either in your home or on-site to let you know how your construction project is coming along. We’ll meet more often when it comes time to finalising your decisions around the interior design and putting on the finishing touches. If for whatever reason, there are delays or changes to the original timeline we gave you, we’ll let you know as soon as they happen, and make sure we come up with an appropriate solution.

5. Variations to the Plan

Sometimes changes need to be made to the original design. This is more common during Christchurch renovation projects where the results of earthquakes plus the age of the house mean the plans don’t reflect the real situation. There are also a few reasons why the plans might be changed during a new build too.

We’ll make sure that all changes are covered in our contract with you. Any variations to the plan or the cost will be signed off by you, so you know exactly what’s happening around the building of your new home. The Fleetwood Construction team will project manage everything from beginning to end, making sure there are no hidden costs and issues are dealt with as soon as they arise.

6. Completing Your New Home

When your home is finished, our first priority is making it look like our builders were never there. We’ll have your whole home professionally cleaned from top to bottom, so you can walk right in and start living. Sam, Charlotte and the Fleetwood Construction team will walk through with you, making sure you’re completely satisfied with your new Christchurch home.

Our team is here for minor cosmetic changes or major renovations. Fleetwood Construction is always happy to talk with you about how we can make your home better.

Sam Fleetwood has over 25 years’ experience in the building and construction industry. Over that time, no matter what has been happening with the economy, the building code, health and safety regulations, natural disasters or any other obstacles that have come Sam’s way, his commitment to building beautiful architectural homes has never faltered. In fact, by building beautiful homes, every day he is living the dream.

While Sam spends more time project managing building projects and communicating with his future homeowners, he still loves getting on the tools every day, and spending time swinging a hammer with his building team.

Charlotte Fleetwood helps keep your building project running smoothly. From managing the office, filing paperwork, keeping the lines of communication open and the team’s systems and processes strong, for over 10 years Charlotte has overseen many successful building and renovation projects in Christchurch.
