Gartshore, New Zealand’s leading construction, commercial interiors and joinery company; all started with a single bicycle, some tools and a steely work ethic.

Bill Gartshore arrived from Glasgow in 1955 with nothing more than a dream and a pair of skilled hands. With a labour shortage and his joinery in high-demand, Bill decided to start his own business a year later.

65 years on, Bill’s basement is now a 30,000 square foot warehouse with state-of-the-art machinery, a skilled workforce of ready and willing staff is here to deliver your dream and a national footprint spanning the length and breadth of our country.

Bill Gartshore’s attention to detail and work ethic is still the same generations later. His son Bill and grandson Rob have taken their family’s expertise abroad, with projects completed in Australia and the South Pacific.

Sustainable Practice

We use the highest quality materials and expertise in everything we do. We want our work to last for a long time, and we feel the same way about our beautiful country and the communities that call it home. We only use FSC certified forest products, we use a process called “nesting”, which allows for minimal waste, and we donate off-cuts and spare materials to charities that need them most. All cardboard, aluminium and copper is recycled on-site.

Retail fitouts are our bread and butter. Over the years it has become the driving force behind our business growth and in turn, has helped grow many of New Zealand’s favourite retail brands.

Commercial interior work is intense, which is why it’s good to have a team of Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors taking care of the finer details. We combine onsite operations with our timber joinery factory to allow a seamless process, saving our clients time and money.
