Bex has packed a great deal into one lifetime - six seasons in Antarctica/South Pole Station, a web designer, owner of several retail stores, a professional stylist, a brand manager, a national visual merchandiser, an Exclusive Properties Realtor in USA, an entrepreneur/owner of businesses both in NZ and USA, most notably her successful interior design business on the East Coast, USA for 18 years specializing in homes $5-$45M up and down the East Coast for her clients, many who owned multiple residences.... and her background has helped inform her career as an interior designer - a common vein running throughout everything she has accomplished.

Inspiration is everywhere if you open your eyes to see it....and her extensive variety of work allows her to see through a different lense - to see vignettes differently, to layer pieces and accessorise materials and textures that tell a story - her clients' story.

Her passion lies squarely within the interior design and architecture sphere - and in her next life, she would like to be an architect! But in the meantime, she chooses to work with some of the best brains in the building/architecture and design industry in Australasia - you can see them here.

Bex brings a unique warmth, friendliness, and transparency to everything she does, and everyone she meets. She believes in lifestyle imaging, bridging the gap between what a client visualizes and "mood boards" - both digital and actual.  Through accessorizing and layering, adding aspirational images and even 3D renders from Haspert, this enables her clients to dive into it - a carefully curated vision that connects her client with the end result.

Her work ethic is second to none - and she makes herself available to her clients 24/7 out of choice. Bex looks back fondly on her extensive luxury interior design work in the USA, but after the sudden death of her husband, returned to family in Christchurch and yet again reinvented what she knows best - interior design.

Her mother says she blooms where she is planted....and it shows!

Great design is never about the designer, it is about telling stories around the client - their life stories, their next stages, what they love (and also what they don't!) the environment and land they have chosen to create their "spot on the planet", and travels....it is about listening, and then translating this into something for their next chapter and beyond..... With extensive international experience in the UK, Bermuda, Eastern Europe and Australia, Bryan moved from Scotland to New Zealand in 2003 and set up an independent design practice in 2009. Bryan enjoys clever design with energy efficiency in mind and employs sustainable construction methods that minimise environmental impact.

Bex largely worked on enormous homes from antebellum mansions to grand oceanfront houses in prestigious locations up and down the East Coast (primarily in her home Charleston SC, and the surrounding Isles and Intercoastal Waterway) up to $45M.

Bex was commissioned to complete turn-key specifications and furnishings of homes that included up to twelve bedrooms, two kitchens, (including the kitchens for a clinet that had the catering contract to the White House!) all the indoor/outdoor spaces which in various homes included areas such as home theatres,  aquariums that stretched up two storeys, saunas, extensive outdoor kitchens, dock and pool houses.

Some of her clients were investors, who then transformed their homes into luxury vacation rental properties. For these project's she selected everything down to the last Euro pillow on the beds, artwork, accessories, TVs and media including outdoor screening, pool furniture etc. Everything through to glass jugs for the lemonade and oyster shucking knives in the sideboard for entertaining....

Those turn-key furnishing projects definitely satisfied the inner shopper for Bex!! TJMaxx and Marshalls were a regular  haunt across the country.

Bex was a regular attendee shopping on behalf of her clients twice annually at one of the world's largest furniture markets High Point Market, for over a decade (as well as attending twice as a vendor for Bauer International, purveyors of all the furniture for the PGA etc), as well as The Coterie in New York and the ICFF.

In New Zealand she was a keynote speaker twice at the annual trade show in Auckland, as well as a regular attendee and has Key Buyer status.p

Kitchens are truly the heart of the home and in the current age, we often prefer large open plan spaces where gathering takes place - and company and conversation can be enjoyed by all.

Kiwis love the indoor + outdoor flow of summer barbecues, with flush entries and seamless entertaining spaces.....

Bryan Doull works with clients on consent drawings for Council on renovations, kitchen drawings, and thorough and detailed Council documentation to smooth the way to consent...

With integrated joinery becoming more accessible for many, the options become endless. Bathrooms are always an area that need to be both functional and beautiful. They begin and end our day and depending upon the home, need to deliver romanticism, calm, sleek beauty, warmth, and evoke the essence of the owner and the home itself.

Often a bathroom is an area where light, materials, surfaces, and of course water, play an integral part of the overall ambience. Evoking the outside environment can be key depending upon the space. Linear corners, selective utilitarianism or sensual curves playfully interact with surfaces to create something unique for every bathroom.​

Powder rooms (the one space that guests see in private) are an opportunity to have fun - a smaller space to do something different - introduce textured wallpaper, adventurous tapware or a special mirror or pendant....gift that small room some punch!

From traditional large bathrooms with the use of lots of mahogany and travertine, incorporating fireplaces in the oceanfront homes of the South, to the vintage lines of a several hundred year old mansion with the curved lines favoured by Europe....all the way through to the current clean and crisp contemporary lines with thoughtfully selected lighting, textures and innovative surfaces favoured by Kiwis - there is not a style that we have not turned our hand to!
