We custom-make all our curtains and the vast majority of our blind range here in New Zealand, in sunny Nelson.

In our sewing workshop we use leading technology to ensure absolute accuracy and consistency. But when it comes to the finishing touches there is still no substitute for hand craftmanship. Fabric is always checked against swatches and thoroughly examined for inconsistencies before being cut, during making, and upon completion.

In our blind studio, we use technology for precision, but once cut, blinds are strung by hand and checked not only by the machinery, but the meticulous eye of our experienced makers.

For the few products that are made outside our factory, we can assure you our partner manufacturers have been chosen with care to meet our standards.

Our huge fabric collection comes from well-known local and international fabric houses such as James Dunlop, Charles Parsons and Maurice Kain, as well as exclusive fabrics chosen just for you, our customers. Your consultant will help you find the right colour, pattern, texture and type to achieve the look and function you want.

Professional Installation

Once your curtains and blinds are made, we have a professional team who come to your home or business to install them so they fit and hang just right. They will also show you best practice for using them if necessary.

Aftersales Care

All our products come with at least 24-months manufacturer’s warranty. We also follow up with you to ensure your window furnishings are everything you expected.

Our History

Quality and service that's timeless.

Russells was originally founded in 1929 by George P Russell as a furniture business. Over time the focus of the business shifted to window furnishings. It’s still locally owned and operated, now by Bill and Jenny Liddell, who draw on the long tradition of quality and service that four generations of the Russell family established. Today, Russells employs over 80 staff throughout the country with our head office and workshop still based in Nelson.
