I work as Operations Manager for a leading company in Residential over cap earthquake repairs and realised that I could not devote the time to build my own house, so looked for a builder who could provide the quality of build that I would expect. Being in the industry meant I knew what to look for and was confident that my costing and predetermined budget was priced correctly. Mark’s quote was competitive and after checking a few houses at various stages for his build quality, was happy that he would be able to produce what I was looking for.

The arrangement was that I would let Mark get on with managing the build, whilst I remained simply the client and didn’t attempt to micro manage the project. I did check as we progressed for key aspects of quality throughout the build and was not disappointed. Mark’s team of guys did a splendid job and the house was finished with almost no snags at its conclusion. This is almost unheard of in this industry.

We were really impressed that Mark very promptly attended to the extras we decided to include in the build and now that we have been a few months in the house, are extremely happy with the result. Building a house can for some people seem traumatic – our experience was quite the opposite. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and don’t regret our selection of Tomkies Construction. We engaged Mark to complete an extension of our house to create a self-contained flat for my Mother. This was my first experience with undertaking a project of this nature and Mark was great to work with. He was so patient and understanding with all my questions and was great at explaining the process in a way I could understand.  
 
Mark is an incredibly dedicated and hard worker, which shows in the attention to detail. The workmanship and finishing was of a high standard.  He also enlists good sub-contractors. Mark also had a great idea to create corner shelves next to a storage cupboard and this suited the room perfectly.  If we are ever doing any further building work, Tomkies Construction would be the first company we would look at to do the work.

When we first met you we had so many dreams and visions for our house, thank you for your patience and kindness throughout the build and helping us to make it happen. Although we made many changes you were always understanding and nothing was ever too much trouble for you to change, always reassuring us and going out of your way to accommodate us.
 
When there were things that we did not understand you explained it and you were professional at all times. Building a home is very emotional and very daunting but I am pleased that we chose you because you were always on hand to help steer us in the right direction.
 
Your subcontractors e.g. Paula from Next Dore, plumber, electrician, painters and landscapers were all very pleasant and helpful to deal with as were your workers, especially Sam. Because of your excellence and quality workmanship we would highly recommend you to anyone who is planning to build.

We approached Mark and his team to build our house in January last year after having been let down by two larger building companies. We had been through eight months of trying to get our dream home underway and were losing faith in the building industry until we heard about Mark's quality workmanship.

We understood that our build would not be easy due to our plans and the situation of the site. However, we were pleasantly surprised by how easy Mark made this for us. Not only was he dedicated in insuring that we got the home we have always dreamed of – he added value to our plans by adding the extra special additions that improved our newly built asset.
