Our Story
It’s safe to say we’ve been around the block when it comes to all things electrical.

With a combined 35 years’ local and international experience in the industry both on the tools and as project managers, we’ve just about seen it all.

We’ve been great mates for many years, our personal values and aspirations align. Building a business that reflects this has always been important to us and these values are ingrained in every interaction we have with customers and every job we take, no matter the size.

Plus, we flat out love what we do.

For us, it’s all about the pride and satisfaction we get from exceeding not only our customers’ expectations but also our own. As well as this, our work is generally on show, so it’s all about perfection. Do it once – do it right.

Given how intertwined our lives have been over the years, having worked, lived and travelled together, it probably comes as no surprise that we share many of the same passions outside of our work.

We’re both renovation junkies, sports fanatics and amongst all of this, we’re bringing up young families who are a major inspiration for the success of our business.

XP Electrical is based in Hamilton, but we travel right across the Waikato to Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Otorohanga, Huntly, Ngaruawahia, Waihi, Matamata, Morrinsville, Raglan, Tokoroa and beyond.

We’re experts in home renovations, with special knowledge of older home layouts. Get a custom electrical plan, make your home more energy-efficient, upgrade outdated electrical equipment or simply add that extra power point or light.

We’re qualified electrical inspectors with specific knowledge and skills around regulation. Get electrical work signed off, property wiring checked or motorhome EWOFs sorted - all at lightening speed.

Pricing guide

Need a quick rundown on costs? Each job is unique, so once we know more about what you’re after, we can give you a quote. But, in the meantime, here are some ballpark estimates for our most popular electrical services.

Labour and travel rates

Labour tradesman (minimum charge of one hour – includes travel time to the site – charged in 15 min increments after that): $69 per hour
Labour Apprentice: $43.50 per hour
Travel fees – these are charged by a zone rate from our base in Frankton, Hamilton.
Zone 1 – 10km from base: $20+gst
Zone 2 – 20kms from base: $25+gst
Zone 3 – 30kms from base: $30+gst

Distances of more than 30kms radius from base are charged at $0.70 p/km.If we need to get stock from suppliers we don’t carry, time for collection will be charged.

Full house renovation/extension (inc all new wiring and equipment, power outlets, lighting, data, switchboard, alarm, design and plan): $12,000 – $20,000
Garage wiring (inc 2 lights and 2 power points, switchboard and submain up to 15m): $1,300

All estimated prices include labour and materials and exclude GST and travel.
