The first of Te Kāhui Whaihanga NZ Institute of Architects Local Awards announcements have been revealed, and it's an honour that Adesanya Close has been shortlisted for the Western award.

We've alternated the units with black brick and white brick, like a checkerboard pattern for this little village. This is to provide identity along with the front doors having an individual colour. We initially thought of a rainbow palette, to finally choose a more subtle selection but harmonically contrasting the checkerboard pattern.Oh…the floating box … a bit of shelter over the entrance and garage door, as well as adding drama to the scenography. The classic thought ‘this will give the engineers a headache’; they liked the challenge and made it look like there was no problem at all.
