The owner’s brief for the Armadale House project was for a complete home refurbishment of all the interior living spaces and bedrooms. The town residence with classic lines, a crisp off-white interior and dark walnut floors needed uplifting with an injection of bold colour, texture and pattern. Susie Miles Design worked closely with the client’s refined taste to source and select new furnishings including bespoke curtains, custom-designed furniture, rugs and original artworks by Australian artists and printmakers to transform the bland living spaces.
Sophistication, style and elegance were the words the clients mentioned when they engaged Susie to take on the project. One of the first design elements to be overhauled was the lighting. Originally the town house like many of the same era had ceilings full of recessed downlights, with no character or thoughtful design merit. Lighting designer Christopher Boots was brought into the project to collaborate and develop lighting designs for classic, French interior style iron pendants and wall sconces with fabric shades.
Sourcing and selection of furniture pieces for the living room interior, dining and hallway interior styling included custom length sofas upholstered in beautiful refined fabrics with a herringbone pattern and dining chairs and barstools with finely woven rattan backs in the family meals area. The hand knotted hall runners and rug in warm tones of chocolate and coral in the main living area add texture, warmth and a luxurious feel underfoot for the family.
The Master Bedroom design was created with a sophisticated hotel feel including a designer-made paneled bed flanked on each side by round timber & iron custom bedside tables and the client’s favourite designer chair in a classic cream and black stripe. Original prints by Charles Blackman finish off the stylish bedroom interior. The attention to classic interior design and the seamless flow from room to room has resulted in a feeling of refined elegance throughout.
Speaking of classic architecture, the result of the Armadale project is a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity. The attention to detail and seamless integration of vibrant hues and tactile materials has resulted in a beautiful home with refined interior design. The clients are happy we’ve captured their vision and translated it into a home with timeless interior style.
