A home in need of an update. A family ready for a new beginning. The large-scale renovation of this home in Sydney’s Drummoyne radiates happiness, offering its occupants space to entertain, relax and retreat. LHD was engaged to design a new light-filled galley kitchen and bathrooms, custom joinery, select furniture and interior and exterior colours, as well as create more social exterior entertaining zones including a cabana – all with the constraint of a very tight deadline. Art curation was central to the many ‘design moments’ of this project, with vibrant works by Australian artists answering the question of how to add colour and energy in a sophisticated way. The clients wanted their home to have hygge – to evoke joy not awe – and as such, every design decision was made by LHD with that in mind.
