After extensive research of different decking boards available in the market, I decided to use composite boards to cover my rebuilt deck substrates. I ordered samples from various composite decking suppliers and soon concluded that not all composite boards are equal. Almost all of the samples I discarded immediately, mainly because of their poor scratch resistance. Very quickly two products stood out as being superior to the others. Permadeck was one of those two and was the product that I finally settled on for a number of reasons. It has a very nice wood like grain that has an incredible non-slip surface, even when wet. The Permadeck boards have been down for approximately two years now and I have only had to clean them once in that time, and even then they weren’t really that dirty. Before I finally chose Permadeck, I rubbed dirt into their sample and the other products sample that I was contemplating purchasing. Permadeck’s sample cleaned up easily, where as the other manufacturers sample , which had a softer more rubber like surface was more difficult to clean , especially in the grooves. The scratch resistance and non absorbing characteristics of Permadeck are amazing, and even after two years it looks as good as it looked after it was finished.
Although Permadeck wasn’t the cheapest composite product on the market, it was still substantially cheaper than the other product I was thinking of using .
All the other advantages of Permadeck composite boards can be found on their very comprehensive and informative website, along with photos of my job in Waiatarua, Auckland. To add icing to the cake, Permadeck have a 25 year structural warranty. That alone should tell you how much faith they have in their product.
And lastly, the service I was given from the owner, Craig Nees and his staff at Permadeck was exceptional, and I can’t recommend both them and their product highly enough. Thanks Craig
