This residence was designed as a beach getaway for a city couple and their children in Whangārei, New Zealand. The client brief was approached with a focus on resilience and celebration of location.

Two gabled volumes provide airy spaces and the lower central roof provides an abundance of light through skylight portals, along with a more intimate space to dine. The deck provides an extension of the living area and access to views of the beach, anchored by the stone fireplace.

Double garage, multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, open plan kitchen and a large deck for entertaining create a perfect getaway that can easily accommodate the family and their guests.
