The iconic Byron beachfront restaurant ‘Beach’ has been a place full of memories big and small for many. Hosting casual long brunches, a la cart sunset dinners and beautiful events and weddings, this venue was ready for an interior that reflected the quality of their restaurant.

Our material selection was carefully chosen to create a subtle elegance whilst also reflecting Byron’s coastal location and its casual lifestyle. The soft neutral tones and gentle textures in the materials combine to bring a calming and refined backdrop to sweeping vistas of the bay out front.

The focal point within the restaurant is the bar, where delicious cocktails are made, and their extensive and exquisite wines are on show. We wanted to frame the theatre behind the bar with a row of wine wrapping the bar front overhead, backdropped by reeded glass. The length of the bar has been broken into sections by columns rendered in a milky venetian plaster which gently curve into a bulkhead running the length above. At one end of the bar is a water & wine glass station which has been crafted from commercial stainless steel to create a sculptural shining element that reflects its surrounding.

Although the bar was the focus of the renovation the entry experience was one that we wanted to carefully curate. New wall cladding and a small, curved greeting desk in the same finishes as the bar combine with a well-positioned entry column which controls the view behind the bar and sets your gaze down the walkway. Creating a calming sense of entry as you gaze down the walkway out to the ocean just beyond.
