Situated in the coastal town of Caloundra is the new expression of beachside sophistication, Bianco. This eight-level waterside development features 27 luxury residences in 2, 3 and 4-bedroom configurations, each designed to maximize sweeping views across the Pumicestone Passage, Bribie Island, and the Coral Sea.

Architects sought to capture the light, movement, and serenity of the coastline within a structure that would stand the test of time. The brief demanded glass that could deliver exceptional clarity, strength, and aesthetic flow, all while enduring the rigours of a coastal environment.

To bring this vision to life, Glasshape supplied TemperShield glass, a premium architectural glazing system engineered for precision and safety. Using five distinct bend radii, each glass panel was custom-formed from 10 mm clear tempered TemperShield, manufactured from supplied measurements and on-site physical templates. These custom curved glass panels were then meticulously replicated for installation across seven apartment levels.

TemperShield’s advanced tempering process makes it several times stronger than standard annealed glass, ensuring long-term durability and safety. It’s available in thicknesses from 3/16″ – 3/4″ (4 mm – 19 mm) and sheet sizes up to 153.5″ x 96″ (3900 mm × 2440 mm), allowing for broad design flexibility and uninterrupted sightlines – key to the building’s seamless coastal aesthetic.

The result is a façade that reflects Bianco’s architectural ambition – flowing curves that mirror the horizon, clarity that amplifies the natural light, and strength that withstands the coastal elements. With its precision-engineered TemperShield glass, Bianco stands as a landmark in Sunshine Coast architecture, demonstrating how innovative glazing technology can define modern coastal design.
