Cabrini Hospital

Healthcare design has become about more than just practicality, but about patient happiness and comfort as well. Cabrini Hospital in Malvern, Victoria designed a courtyard for its new Gandel Wing that could be a sanctuary for patients, and a space where they could escape and relax during their stay. Tranquility, comfort and calmness were at the forefront of the design, which was brought to life by Bates Smart Architects.

DECO’s beautiful timber-look decking product, DecoDeck®, was chosen as a flooring solution for the courtyard that would enhance the tranquil space. A product with exceptional longevity, DecoDeck® will retain its stunning natural appearance in any outdoor environment, and was therefore the perfect option for an outdoor space that could be impacted by rain, sunshine and foot traffic. The slip-resistant finish made it an excellent choice for hospital patients, providing a safe option that would reduce the risk of falls.

A modern design, Cabrini Hospital needed gentle timber tones for its courtyard, which were provided by the Weathered Timber DecoWood® finish – a soft, greyish-hued deck that perfectly complemented the colours of the surrounding building.

As an easy-install product, which could be cut down to the desired size and shape, DecoDeck® could be installed to fit seamlessly around the curved garden beds, for an elegant and flowing design.
