Innovative childcare centre designed and consented during lockdown, featuring a unique timber-framed roof structure, completed on an accelerated timeline to support timely opening for the 2021 school year.
The logistics around the Churchill Childcare Centre were complicated because of
Covid-19.
The centre was designed and consented over Zoom during New Zealand’s level 4 lockdown and required an accelerated delivery programme starting in July 2020 with a completion date of December 1st. This would allow the centre to open for term one in 2021.
Further challenging planning and coordination was needed to carry out works in conjunction with adjacent subdivision and tenant works. It was a challenge to build a timber framed roof structure on a 45 degree angled roof on the high profile site, but it gives the centre a spacious, quality feel.
