The Chapel of the Upper Room at College House, completed in 2022, showcases modern architecture with its striking double-height interior and iconic M-shaped copper roof, serving as a centerpiece of the 1960s campus masterplan.
The Chapel at College House is one of Miles Warren’s finest buildings, with its double height interior and distinctive M shaped copper roof. It sits elevated above the grassed quadrangle as the focal point of the beautiful 1960’s campus masterplan. Wilkie + Bruce Architects were privileged to provide both architectural design services and heritage expertise for the strengthening and refurbishment of this seminal modernist building so it could be reopened for use.
Awarded a 2025 Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects Canterbury Architecture Award in the Heritage category.
