The challenge
The concrete patio area at our client’s new home felt barren and hard, so they barely used it. They were concerned that being concrete, it wouldn’t be a safe space for their young children to play. They also didn’t enjoy how the concrete looked against the stunning backdrop of Lake Wakatipu and sought a more natural aesthetic.
The solution
Installing SmartGrass instantly improved the visual appearance of the space. SmartGrass™ was cut to shape and loosely laid with the weight of SmartFill sand acting as a fastener, making for a fast transformation.
The clients opted for a 10mm rubber underlay which provided a layer of barely noticeable softness between the finished level and the concrete below. This meant that the children would be protected if they fell. The patio was transformed into a lively place to spend time with family. Our clients found that they use the space much more often than they wanted to before.
