Nestled in nature, the owners of this holiday house wanted to create a relaxed environment allowing holiday guests to feel cocooned and far removed from the fast paced world when in residence.
THE STORY
Originally built as a budget kit home in 1975, the 2 story, Cape Cod style home had been renovated once before 10 years prior, taking care of the floorplan which still works well today. Still containing the original Oregon timber structural beams and rafters as well as further timber elements added during the last renovation the house already had textural warmth to build upon.
An artisan approach was used in the renovation. All wooden furniture was handmade onsite by local tradesman, the walls were used as artistic backdrops and enhanced with wood paneling, and speciality finishes that blend into the surroundings, both inside and out.
