This impressive Brick Bay property north of Auckland is spectacularly positioned to maximise 180 degree views of the surrounding coastline and native bush. The section was very steep, for the build to be a success, solid foundations and a large retaining wall would be paramount.
With a reputation for their ability to deal with challenging build environments and out-of-the-box thinking, the client called on EDC. EDC immediately undertook an investigative geotech report which confirmed an irregular weathering profile of underlying rock and soils.
Drawing on years of experience, a cost effective solution was quickly found in this well-engineered and impressive 7m Gabion retaining wall (welded mesh panels). The substantial retaining wall and well-considered foundations, served not only to support the sloping section, but provided the client with peace of mind that they would be enjoying their dream home and the views it afforded for a long time to come.
