Hastings Police Station

This new 3 story Police Station project included the demolition of the existing building and upgrades to the Annex buildings.
The station is on a prominent corner in central Hastings, adjacent to the Hastings District Courthouse, and a large picture frame window overlooks the city and the hills beyond. Most of the building is glazed at street level, opening up sightlines into the building. By day, this shades the atrium behind, and by night it is transparent, demystifying the workings of the station. Some challenging aspects of this project were working in a confined area adjacent to an existing working police station, courthouse & the public footpath. Acoustic screens were used to enable construction works adjacent to a working courtroom.
