Designer: Geoffrey Britton / Michael Bates

Carieville is a sandstone residence that was built in 1862 by Frederick and Caroline (‘Carie’) Robinson. It’s nestled in a peninsula suburb of Sydney’s Inner West, a stone’s throw from the city.

We were invited to Carieville 14 years after Geoffrey Britton’s original heritage garden plan was implemented. This verdant garden is definitely a clearing.

About the
Professional

With our strong commitment to collaboration, we embrace the perspective of our clients as well as that of the architects and the designers of the space. This pushes us to go beyond where others stop in the pursuit of exceeding our client’s expectations.

After the initial design phase, when the details of the vision for our clients gardens have been determined, the construction phase is when this vision is physically realised. Through over 32 years spent building over 1200 gardens, Michael Bates and his senior team have honed the skill of project management required to create stunning gardens to a fine art.

Managing the flow of work is a crucial aspect in enabling Bates projects to be delivered on time, and is a skill only gained through experience. This is why many of Australia’s leading landscape architects, landscape designers and interior designers trust Bates to deliver gardens they have designed - we never compromise on the final result.
