Highwic: formal apartment garden

I designed this garden for my beloved mother-in-law. The area was a windswept, barren space, open to communal gardens and the owners wanted privacy, shelter and to enjoy their garden from every room.

"I love the formal look and wanted a touch of pink to being the inside colours out", says Barbara

The 4 tiers of the hedge are: Corokia, Vibernum, Leptospermum and Azaleas.

We re-laid the paying and divided the long corridor into a series of garden rooms.

The fence was transformed by training star jasmine into a dramatic diamond pattern.

Ray enjoys tending to the pottager at the end of the garden (and he's also a great cook!)

I like to create gardens thar give people pleasure and make them feel relaxed - it's about structure plus ambiance.
