Gibbston Valley Schist, Hilton Hotel, Queenstown

Website

Over 3000M2 of local Gibbston Valley Schist cladding, laid up to heights of 15M and on a challenging steep hillside site. Our lightweight stone cladding was the ideal solution for this landmark build in a prominent lakeside location in New Zealand’s tourist capital.

The raw schist was cut to our nominal 40mm flat and corner pieces at our Cromwell plant, then progressively delivered to site throughout the build.  Waste stone, which is minimised with this product, was removed from site as required.

The schist cladding was produced and installed within time and budget parameters, which was incredibly pleasing given how newly developed this product was at the time of the project (2009).
