Elevate Sealing Solutions were contracted by the owner of this architecturally designed Hinuera Stone home in Cambridge to clean and seal it and get it ready to present to the market for sale.

This extensive stone home had not been sealed since it’s construction, and the perimeter wall of over 100 metres of Hinuera had not been sealed at all. The result was deeply embedded black mould, thick moss and lichen over every surface.

The Elevate team carefully scraped away the moss and lichen, using caution to not scratch or remove the face of the stone, then applied the chemical treatment to kill the mould spores in the pores of the stone. Several applications were required and the results speak for themselves.

Hinuera and Oamaru stone must be properly cleaned and sealed immediately after construction to prevent the natural stone from deteriorating to this state and devaluing the home.

Regular cleaning and sealing at 5 to 7 year intervals is essential to keep the stone looking as good as the day it was laid, and it is far more cost effective to maintain it, rather than allow the building to deteriorate to this degree.
