This holiday house occupies an exquisite and little known promontory on the wild western Waikato coastline. Its modest 600sqm site belies expansive single level living master-minded by Paua Architects.

Flanked on its eastern boundary by a garage/guest room, a bunk room lookout stands sentinel over the bay with panoramic coastal views from a protected balcony. The fortress-like screened northeastern wall protects the main covered courtyard. Two fireplaces stand centrally on opposing sides, dividing the site into three protected thresholds to the outdoor spaces.

Designed as a cosy three-bedroom, three-bathroom sanctuary for extended family and friends, the home can be seamlessly unfolded in three directions in response to wind changes and weather. The highly crafted detail and intricate structure of this contemporary home – not to mention its picturesque setting – ensure it will remain a highly regarded getaway for generations to come.
