By Woods Bagot
The public space overlay of the 3 International Towers lobbies in the highly acclaimed Barangaroo.
Taking cues from the existing curved geometry and developing a meaningful linking narrative, the project was predicated on a sense of respect for the base building designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour and was approached in a similar way to a heritage building.
The design is composed of a ‘kit of parts’ to create a quality and authentic space that is cohesive with the lobby design. A monolithic sculptural concierge desk is the main point of arrival for guests. Its curved and enclosing edges are a signature throughout, exploiting the warmth of natural timbers and imbuing the space with pockets of containment.
