This ground-floor fitout for a new Jenny Craig weight loss centre in the IAG Building at Albany made a virtue of a tight budget by emphasising a stripped-back aesthetic. Working to a design by T Plus Architects, the H&R team left the high-ceilinged base build untouched and all the services and ducting exposed. Set against that semi-industrial backdrop, they have built a clean-lined, contemporary setting for clients and staff, including half-a-dozen consultation rooms and a reception area, all finished in crisp white and signature ‘Jenny Craig Blue’, with timber flooring to create some warmth. The slick black and white reception desk was supplied by the client. A good proportion of a typical Jenny Craig’s daily business revolves around clients picking up their packaged meals – in other words, it’s partly a distribution centre. At Albany, the massive food room includes seven double-door industrial fridges, along with a small corner-kitchenette for staff and shelving built by H&R’s joinery team. The entire fitout took eight weeks and ran smoothly, with all the trades involved managed by a single subcontractor.
