By Gel Architects
This retail complex is on a site previously occupied by a petrol station. Exposed pre-cast panels were used to create a contemporary look, while also keeping costs down. We softened the look of the buildings by adding to the established streetscape of Phoenix Palms.
The complex had to accommodate a variety of businesses, with retail shops augmented by a fitness centre and a corner cafe.

We love architecture, not just for the beauty found in thoughtful spaces, but for the role it plays in creating liveable buildings, communities, and cities. At Gel we understand that careful design can help shape the fabric of our country for the better. We’re known for designing homes and workplaces that are beautiful to look at, practical to build, and a joy to live and work in. We are new home, urban regeneration and masterplanning specialists. Sustainability is in the DNA of all our projects, with considerations such as efficient land use, using locally-sourced products, optimising solar access and reducing waste at the forefront of our thinking. Gel Architects are an NZIA (New Zealand Institute of Architects) registered practice.
