Located in Leigh, The original house started off as a modest kit set Bach on piles with expansive ocean views that has been gradually remodelled by the client since 1990. Now ‘Kororā retreat’ offers different living solutions that respond to the changing seasons with flexible living spaces to accommodate visitors.
The client’s brief was for a contemporary extension that maximised the outlook and settled into the natural environment. Having recently transitioned into retirement, they were looking to transform their property into a more semi-permanent home. They also wanted to increase the amenity to accommodate fluctuating visitor numbers during peak holiday seasons, whilst creating a snug coastal home for two during quieter periods. A magical space to inhabit, where architecture is very much the vehicle that enhances the sense of connection to place.
