The recently completed South Tower expansion to the Memorial Hermann–“The Woodlands Medical Center“, in Houston, Texas, has added a total of 351,636 square feet to the hospital’s campus. The expansion increases the hospital’s total bed count for patients to over 500 from its previous 397; adds10 new operating rooms; and expands the hospital’s endoscopy center, heart center, emergency center and diagnostic imaging.

JLL were selected to provide Program and Project Management for the construction of this significant project, with Austin Commercial Services as the General Contractor, Philo Wilke as the Architect and SSA as the Engineer.

“As a testament to the resilience and dedication of everyone involved, the tower has endured a variety of significant environmental setbacks, including enduring hurricane season, the pandemic and, most recently, Winter Storm Uri,” said James Selmser (JLL). “We’re proud of this project and know that the world-class employees of Memorial Hermann will provide exceptional patient outcomes“.

Glasshape® were once again delighted to partner up with Berger Iron Works, Inc. initially providing them with digitally scanned Field Measurements of the Overlook Railing and Circular Staircase structures, whilst they were in the construction phase. Going on to produce a 3D CAD Model of these structures, referencing the point cloud data captured in the Field Measure, to ensure accuracy in the production of the 14.28mm (9/16′′) Laminated Bent Glass that Glasshape supplied Berger Iron Works, Inc.

“Berger Iron Works, Inc. has been using Glasshape for years and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Their team always quickly responds with pricing, lead times, and status. The qualityof the product is second class to no one. The ability to scan the existing structures to back check glassshop drawings to avoid schedule delays later in the project is imperative on the level of projects we workon” - Samantha Neil, Chief Estimator, Berger Iron Works, Inc.

The finished Bent Glass installation, situated in the main entrance to the South Tower, provides a welcoming, light filled environment and safe access point to The Woodlands Medical Center, which both Glasshape and Berger Ironworks Inc. are extremely proud to have worked together on, further cementing our joint commitment to providing excellent product and services to our customers.
